Gordon and Gotch has been developing and designing innovative software solutions to support the publishing and event industries for more than 35 years. We are now recruiting two developers who will work with the development team enhancing, maintaining and supporting our flagship Myriad application.

Software Developer (full stack)

Any candidate should have 2 years of development experience for VB .NET desktop applications and MS SQL Server. For example; familiarity with T-SQL, relational databases, creation / maintenance of stored procedures, functions, views, tables and indexes.

Essential skills:

• VB .NET
• MS SQL Server
• Source control (TFS or Git preferred)

Experience with the following is advantageous:

• ASP .NET WebForms
• SOAP

Candidate qualities:

• Full stack web development experience
• The aptitude to produce high quality, clean code that is efficient and easy to maintain
• The competence to balance quality vs tight release schedules
• The capability to work in a team, alone without supervision or remotely from home
• The ability to take responsibility for their own productivity and output
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including appropriate escalation
• Clear communication, both with technical and non-technical clients

Recruitment Process:

We’ll usually do a short first-stage telephone interview. If that goes well, we’ll want to set up a longer conversation to find out more. Where possible, we’ll do a face-to-face interview in our offices, so that you can get a better feel for the company and your team. However, we understand the challenges of COVID19 and have adapted our business to be completely flexible around the current situation. This means that we may do some, or all, of the interview process over video using Microsoft Teams.
