As a Software Engineer, you will work to build privacy-safe infrastructure that enables server-side data processing in a provably private and externally verifiable way.

We mostly work on server-side technologies, but we also think hard about the usability and legibility of the APIs we create and how they are used by clients in a way that upholds the overall privacy guarantees of the system.

We use cutting-edge technologies, and aim to bridge the gap between open source and google3 development, with the goal of enabling full transparency of how user data is worked with server side.

We have the goal to become a de facto way that provably private experiences are created in technology.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Trusted Runtime (an open source and fully reproducibly buildable binary). Make a platform for provably private computation in Google and extend the platform to allow third party developers to develop and deploy privacy-preserving applications.
• Research novel mechanisms for enforcing privacy-preserving computation in the context of untrusted code.
• Collaborate with other teams in Google to adopt the platform to their use cases.
• Deploy and maintain infrastructure that allows running the Trusted Runtime in a reliable and scalable way in order to provide privacy guarantees to first party products.
• Participate in the wider security research community (e.g. writing papers, giving presentations, attending conferences, etc).
