The Role You’ll Play
The People Generalist is an experienced hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves, walk-the-floor position where HR is visible, welcoming, and supportive and seeks to find solutions or solve problems to enhance business performance. Working in partnership with site supervisors/managers, the role is responsible for talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, training/development, and employee relations.
This position will work from our Madera, CA location with possible travel to our other locations as business needs require. This is an on-site position.
What You’ll Do
· Execute targeted plans to improve overall employee engagement. Actively connect with employees by walking the production floor, solving, and listening to concerns and building insights on how to improve the business.
· Responsible for the full recruiting cycle including working with hiring managers to prepare job descriptions & job ads, conduct and schedule interviews, offer process and successful onboarding. Build GWPG Employer Brand and ensure excellent Candidate Experience.
· Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring as needed complex and/or sensitive matters to the Divisional HR Leader and appropriate staff.
· Analyze and run s to bring meaningful context to HR metrics. (e.g., retention statistics, open positions, overhead costs, overtime expense, employee satisfaction, training initiatives and turnover rate) Ensure data in HRIS system remains current and accurate.
· Lead employee retention initiatives. Conduct, record, and analyze exit interviews to identify trends. Develop recommendations to improve turnover rate.
· Process, assess and administer Workers Compensation program to include accident investigation, injury/trend assessment, incident ing and annual review. Drive cultural change and recommendations to eliminate injuries.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Educates management on these requirements as needed.
· Helps deliver, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory employee training, continuing education, and work assessments.
· Responsible for the completion of the offboarding process including exit interviews, turnover data collection and analysis to identify and implement continuous improvements to increase employee satisfaction and retention.
· Conducts fact-finding investigations and provide recommendations as needed. Advice and support supervisor and managers on performance management and corrective counseling of their team members, as well as directly counsel employees on work-related matters.
What You’ll Need
· At least five years of full employment cycle Human Resources experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources or related field or equivalent years of work experience.
· PHR/SPHR-CP, CA SPHR Certification a plus.
· Thorough knowledge of wage and hour and employment State and Federal laws and regulations
· Technology savvy with a strong Microsoft suit, Experience with Paycom is highly desired.
· Strong interpersonal relationship-building and communication (written and verbal) skills.
· Proven ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, dependability, integrity, and confidentiality.
· Excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and delegate where appropriate.
· Solid critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently.
· Strong attention to details.
· Customer Focused with strong results orientation.

If hired, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year.
