GMHBA Hiring for Assistant Accountant Job at Geelong Full Time

We have an opening for an Assistant Accountant to join our team. This is an ongoing role, based in Geelong with hybrid working options.

About the role

Within this role you’ll support the Finance team with the reporting and compliance requirements of GMHBA’s complex business structure. You will help with the maintenance of the general ledger, financial reporting, and accounting procedures and support the Finance Manager to ensure that reporting processes are appropriate. You will also be the finance point of contact for our internal operations membership team. Alongside your team, you’ll gain exposure to GMHBA’s operations including Private Health Insurance, Eye Care, Dental, Physio, and Medical.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you’ll need to demonstrate:

• Bachelor’s degree or Higher in Accounting/Commerce or related area
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly in the use of Excel, Word, Outlook
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently deal with a variety of stakeholders
• Strong team player
• Good communicator, with the ability to interpret and explain financial information
• Positive “can do” attitude with desire to learn, train and develop in the role
• Self-starter with an organised approach
• Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines are essential, using initiative to prioritise
• An interest in a finance/accounting career and in considering a CPA/CA qualification in future

Highly desirable

• Experience in financial reporting
• Proficiency in HAMBS system
• Experience in Insurance industry and/or Health sectors
• Experience demonstrated in a similar role
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP
