GRS is a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals providing clinical therapeutic services in the disability sector. Our services include assessments, report writing, and intervention for clients and their families under the NDIS.

Our team includes experienced senior occupational therapists with more than 10 years clinical practice within the hospital and public health system. These therapists are available to provide you with ongoing high quality and timely clinical supervision across the physical, paediatric and mental health caseloads, as well as facilitate your professional development and career goals. You will be guided and supported, with a mixed caseload across the physical, paediatric and, intellectual disability/mental health areas. What is it like to be working at GRS in the following clinical areas?
GRS is a multi-disciplinary team of experienced allied health professionals, offering you regular clinical supervision to develop your skills in using standardised and non-standardised assessments as well as clinical interventions for people living with disability. While you will be given autonomy to deliver your therapy, there will always be a senior staff allocated to support you across the clinical areas we service should you need this.
Physical
GRS offers a range of assessments and interventions for individuals with physical disabilities (e.g., limb amputation), neurological conditions (e.g., MS, CVA, motor neuro disease), and other congenital conditions. You will receive guidance and support in conducting these clinical caseloads. Training will also be provided for you to prescribe assistive technology equipment (e.g., low-cost shower chairs or complex customised wheelchairs), as well as prescription of a range of home modifications (e.g. from basic grab rails to complex disability bathroom access) to improve your client’s ability to live independently within their home and community environments.
Paediatric
We aim to assist you to develop competence in conducting assessments and interventions for the paediatric population, across a range of common presentations such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, developmental delay and down syndrome. Standardised and non-standardised assessment tools and frameworks will be utilised, as well as home, clinic, and group-based interventions.
Mental Health and Intellectual Disability
GRS receives regular referrals for people requiring mental health OT input. We primarily use the Allen Cognitive level assessment, and acceptance and commitment therapy as our intervention approach. You will be provided with training and support in mastering your clinical skills within the mental health OT framework.
Our support for you:
Leave: 4 weeks annual leave, 12 weeks maternity leave
Supervision: Weekly group supervision, fortnightly formal supervision by the Clinical Educator. For mixed caseloads, there is the opportunity to receive adhoc supervision with an OT from different specialties.
CPD support: access to previously recorded and ongoing in-service/ workshops. Funding support for external training opportunities (approval required).
Flexible work arrangement: As GRS is primarily a home-based service, we offer great flexibility, allowing you to work around your own schedule. We do not enforce any work hours or location, giving you the freedom to prioritise your lifestyle the way you want.
Salary: Negotiable plus superannuation and bonus
Who are we looking for:
GRS continues to provide strong clinical reasoning and evidenced-based therapy for our clients with an innovative approach to suit both the needs of our clients and network clinicians. If you would like to work in the community, have a passion to develop an evidence-based practice approach and clinical reasoning skills equivalent to the standard expected in the public and private hospital and public community settings, we would like to work with you and support you through the journey.
A successful application for this position will need to demonstrate how he/she addresses the following selection criteria:
· General registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
· An experienced OT with sound clinical skills in one of the three clinical areas mentioned above
· Able to work independently, demonstrated high-level self-management skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
· Current Driver’s License and access to own vehicle
· Current Working with Children and National Police Check
· Motivated and reflective learner
·Fluency in a second language (preferred but not essential).
·Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or higher.
·Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skill in multiple areas of Occupational Therapy.
·Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload.
·Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to Quality Improvement.
·Demonstrated willingness to assist other Occupational Therapy units with clinical caseloads when required.
·Ability to adapt communication to client requirements and style in a respectful manner
