The Role
Glencore’s Queensland Metals (QM) Operations are currently seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the position of Water Resources Advisor. Working within the Water Team of the HSEC department, you will be working on our surface water and groundwater management systems and projects across our QM Operations. This is a residential role based in Mount Isa.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Proactive leadership in environmental management through practical implementation of technical knowledge on water-related issues
• Developing and executing surface water-groundwater management projects
• Ensuring projects are on-track (operationally & financially) and managed in support of regulatory compliance to achieve environmental targets
• Contractor management/engagement and strong collaboration with peers and customers
• Scoping, developing and/or reviewing projects and technical studies (for both internal and external stakeholders)
• Developing and/or reviewing surface and/or groundwater models.
• Effective data analysis management and interpretation
• Undertaking environmental monitoring (i.e. water, REMP evaluations etc.) when required.
• Maintaining, reviewing, and continuously improving the Environmental Management Systems, data recording, operational approvals and licensing requirements
• Promoting and working to HSEC policies and procedures
• Promoting Mount Isa Mines in a positive manner within the community

The successful applicants will have:

• Tertiary qualification/s in environmental science/engineering, civil engineering with environmental management or hydrology/hydrogeology/geochemistry (BSc as a minimum)
• Relevant operational experience (minimum of 3 years, but preferably 5 years or more) in a water-related role (surface water and/or groundwater management)
• Systems experience, be goal-orientated and highly organised, self-driven, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with operations personnel
• Experience in surface water and/or groundwater monitoring systems, GIS applications and water accounting is highly desirable
• Experience working with relevant water software is desirable (GoldSim, Tuflow, Hec-Ras, Modflow, Groundwater Vista, Leapfrog, etc)
• Experience in supervision of drilling and pump testing programs is desirable.
• Experience in REMP sampling (AusRivAS-accredited is desirable)
• Sound understanding of health, safety, environment, and community systems and processes and their interrelationships
• Manual driving license.
