About the role

The Assistant Accountant will provide support to the Financial accountant and the wider finance team by helping to process invoices, reconcile bank accounts on a daily basis and prepare payment batches. Along with the wider finance team, this role would be responsible for the finalisation of month-end and year-end accounts. The role will liaise with other departments across the business and be responsible for supporting effective operations of the finance function.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior/managing accountant and wider finance team.
• Assist with Accounts receivable/payable functions.
• Daily credit card and bank reconciliation.
• Assisting with the weekly, half year and end of year financial reporting as required.
• Collaborating with other teams to work on various accounting projects and initiatives.
• Assist with reconciling staff expenses and assist with training for new staff members.
• Assist with purchase order reconciliations.
• Assist with data entry to help the wider finance team as required.
• Assist with general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with on-boarding new employees into Xero & Deputy.
• Assist the finance team with employee queries, training and processes as required.
• Assist with ad-hoc administrative requirements as required.

Desired Experience

• 1 – 2 years experience in accounting, accounting administration and/or data entry.
• Experience using Xero is advantageous.
• Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills, including an ability to engage, understand, Interpret and manage varying levels of internal/external stakeholders.
• Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives in key financial reporting processes.
• Intermediate level in Excel is desirable.

Please note this role is a fixed term contract with view to permanent.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term

Salary: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
