Each summer, the Girl Scouts of Alaska camp team from across the U.S. works together toward one common mission — to help every girl who attends camp develop courage, confidence, and character to make the world a better place.
Most summer staff will serve as Counselors. You’ll work with a staff partner to plan and deliver outdoor activities to a group of 8-12 girls and supervise all aspects of your campers’ day. Depending on the camp, common activities include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, environmental education, arts and crafts, trying the climbing tower, team building, and STEM programming. Now hiring at these three camps:
• Camp Togowoods is located along the shores of Three Mile Lake in Wasilla, AK. Residential camp positions include Cooks and Counselors in these areas: General, Waterfront/Boating, Climbing Wall Program, Art Program, Health Program and Kitchen.
• Camp Singing Hills is located along on Edmonds Lake outside Chugiak, AK. Day camp positions include Counselors and Hiking Counselors.
• The Rural Alaska Program is a traveling day camp where Counselors fly between rural villages in small planes or ferry in Southeast Alaska.
Depending on camp and position, compensation starts at $1,600/half season, $3,200/full season or $13.00/hour, plus room, board, and a $450 end of season travel stipend for out-of-state resident or travel camp staff. Applicants must make a commitment from May 24th to August 15th, 2022, be at least 18 years old, possess excellent character, exert enthusiasm, patience, and understanding, work from a place of positivity, and are solution-oriented. Half season positions for Camp Togowoods counselors are available either May 24th to June 30th or July 6th to August 15th. To apply, fill out the online application (3 professional reference contacts are necessary). Interviews will be conducted by phone.
