The role

We currently have an opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team. The Management Accountant is part of a multi-skilled management and regulatory accounting team within the Finance workgroup who collectively ensure Gippsland Water’s key management and financial planning accountabilities and objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner, whilst working on pricing policy, economic regulation and corporate planning. Additionally, the position plays a key role in providing value to the organisation through increased visibility and understanding of financial planning and performance and will be part of a significant transformation program to streamline and enhance processes and implement technology upgrades.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance team to provide accurate analysis and projections of financial data across our organisation. We are a high-performing team, providing helpful and valued financial support, business planning and budgeting to deliver results in reporting and expense management.

You will use your expertise and strong analytical skills to perform variance analysis on periodic reporting and to assess our business activities against the relevant accounting standards.

What you’ll bring

• A tertiary qualification in an appropriate accounting discipline or demonstrated work experience in an Accounting role.
• Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial and management reporting processes.
• Experience in analytical review and variance analysis of movements against budgets, forecasts and prior year actuals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills including maintaining accuracy and confidentiality of accounting processes.
• Ability to liaise and work with a wide range of stakeholders to collaboratively facilitate and deliver financial outcomes.
• Time management skills and the ability to set priorities and organise work to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide information and advice in a clear, concise and timely manner.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, in order to problem solve, provide advice and information on related finance issues.
