Giatec Scientific Inc. Hiring for Electronics Designer at Ottawa, ON Full Time

As an Electronics Designer, you will be part of a cross functional team collaborating with R&D and Software engineers to architect solutions, develop specifications, design and build prototypes as well as test and validate performance of the product. You will support transforming those proven concepts and designs into fully commercial hardware products that will become the next revolutionary solution in the hands of our customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
participate in system architecture design and sub-systems involved to meet objectives

translate requirements into functional and performance specifications

perform circuit level design, simulations and testing to validate the design

PCB layout design, prototyping, and board bring-up

design performance assessment and measurement both in lab and in the field

develop firmware/software for embedded systems

prepare documentation

collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure testability, manufacturability, and scalability

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) and minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience.

strong analytical and problem-solving abilities along with a can-do attitude

hands-on experience in designing electronic circuits both Analog and Digital

competency developing firmware/software for embedded systems

good understanding of common communication protocols (ex. I2C, UART, SPI, et)

experience working with wireless protocols (ex. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Zigbee, NFC)

some experience using M2M cellular connectivity modems (LTE CAT-M1, NB-IoT)

some experience working with Arm processor

some experience using python for software development or testing

schematic and layout design using Altium Designer

knowledge of product manufacturing processes and quality management systems
