About the role

Reporting directly to the Geology Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of ore and provision of timely geological support necessary for achievement of the mine plan.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Providing updated mine geological interpretations, models and maps using geological data
• Maintaining QAQC for drill hole sampling and mining of ore
• Developing and designing grade control systems and programs for short- and medium-term planning
• Validation and processing of grade control and production data

About your experience

Providing geological input and information to key stakeholders within the Technical Services, Operations and Contractor teams

You are ideally experienced in mine and exploration geology processes including geological and structural logging, mapping, sampling and modelling. You are confident in your approach and comfortable presenting your findings to operational stakeholders.

You will also possess the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Geology, Geoscience or Earth Science
• Knowledge and experience working with geological databases
• Exposure to 3D modelling software
• Strong analytical, research, creative thinking, and effective communication skills

Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Administration functions and ore processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.
