About the role

Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, the Financial Analyst is responsible for working with Senior Managers to provide financial planning and analysis of complex financial information and reports to allow the business to make well informed commercial decisions. This role can be based in Adelaide CBD or Whyalla.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Provision of business and management performance reports to support and drive the achievement of business unit goals
• Understanding key business performance drivers and acting as the analytical engine of the company providing insights and analysis to support optimal decision making
• Identifying opportunities to increase profitability and grow the business by providing trend analyses of spending patterns, product and customer profitability analyses and using such analysis to model and predict future outcomes and recommending appropriate interventions for performance gap closure
• Provide analysis of forecasts and trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for optimisation
• Co-ordinate the production of consolidated weekly & monthly rolling forecasts, quarterly forecast updates and annual budgets
• Produce monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting
• Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.

About your experience

You will be someone who has strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills who enjoys working in a fast paced, flexible environment. You are also resourceful and have strong communications skills to be able to work effectively in a cross functional team at all levels of the organisation.

Skills and qualifications required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
• Accounting profession accreditation is an advantage
• Post qualification experience within a large/complex heavy industrial/manufacturing environment
• Highly advanced Excel modelling skills. Experience with Power BI an added advantage.
• Proven skills with information systems, data visualisation, reporting and monitoring performance
• Experience using SAP preferred
• Strong financial and business acumen
