Job Summary
The Patient Access Specialist I will oversee the complete process of benefit verifications (BVs) and initiating prior authorizations (PAs) with precision and efficiency. Collaborating closely with members of the Patient Access, Revenue Cycle Management, and Clinical Services Departments, you will contribute to the smooth operation of our healthcare services on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately collect and input patient and insurance information into our customer relationship management platform.
Manage incoming faxes and correspondence efficiently.
Execute benefit verifications and prior authorizations promptly and accurately, prioritizing tasks effectively.
Monitor department email for requests and ensure timely responses.
Utilize online portals effectively to process verifications and authorizations, maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
Maintain up-to-date patient charts and ensure accurate status assignment for BVs and PAs.
Collaborate closely with various departments to support their functions related to verifications and authorizations.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and company policies at all times.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
Previous experience in benefit verifications, prior authorizations, or medical billing.
Commitment to professionalism and compliance in all interactions.
Proficiency in navigating the U.S. healthcare system and understanding government and commercial health insurance.
Familiarity with medical front office processes and terminology.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Strong customer service skills for effective internal communication.
Analytical mindset for data organization and problem-solving.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
Outstanding time management and multitasking abilities.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or GED certificate required.
Associate degree preferred.
Other Requirements
Proficiency in using computers, software, and related platforms.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
