Position Overview
As a Health Information Specialist II, you will play a pivotal role in efficiently processing medical record requests, upholding strict confidentiality standards, and delivering superior customer service. This intermediate-level position requires a minimum of 1 year of related Health Information Management (HIM) experience. You will not only manage patient records but also provide guidance and training to Health Information Specialist I staff.
Key Responsibilities
Process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies.
Safeguard confidentiality and security of privileged information.
Maintain proficiency in company and facility software.
Uphold the company’s Code of Conduct and policies, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Communicate effectively with managers regarding work updates, challenges, and varying work volumes.
Assist With Additional Duties As Required Or Evident.
Ensure strict compliance with medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
Manage and safeguard patient health records, ensuring HIPAA standards are met.
Prepare new patient charts, gathering information from various sources, both paper-based and electronic health records.
Maintain accurate and complete medical records, assembling them in standard order.
Create digital records stored in the electronic medical record system.
Respond to internal and external requests for patient records efficiently and securely.
Handle inbound and outbound calls, possibly assisting patient walk-ins.
Support administrative tasks such as managing faxes, mail, and data entry.
Assist with scheduling pick-ups and training associates in the HIS I position.
Generate s for managers or facilities as directed.
Act as a lead resource for general inquiries and contribute to staff training and development.
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED; must be 18 years or older.
Ability to commute between locations if required.
Willingness to work overtime during peak periods.
Minimum Of 1 Year Of Health Information Related Experience.
Consistently meet or exceed Company’s Productivity Standards.
Basic computer proficiency; comfortable with office equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance in medical records.
Strong data entry skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
Proficient in multitasking and managing various responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Previous production/metric-based work experience.
Previous in-person customer service experience.
Ability to establish positive relationships with on-site clients and customers.
Proactive in presenting process improvement ideas and feedback to internal stakeholders.
