Key Responsibilities
Payment Processing:
Receive and thoughtfully review payments from patients, insurance companies, and various sources.
Skillfully record payments onto patient accounts using relevant billing and accounting software.
Proactively identify and rectify discrepancies or errors in payment allocations.
Invoicing And Statements
Generate and dispatch invoices to patients and relevant parties based on provided billing information.
Regularly provide patients with account statements, ensuring absolute clarity and accuracy regarding outstanding balances.
Follow-Up On Outstanding Balances
Reach out to patients and insurance companies regarding overdue payments, discrepancies, or outstanding balances.
Collaborate effectively with billing and collections teams to address and resolve payment-related inquiries or disputes.
Reconciliation
Diligently reconcile incoming payments with invoices, promptly identifying any discrepancies or inconsistencies.
Ensure precise application of payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
Record Keeping
Maintain impeccably organized and up-to-date records of all payment transactions, invoices, and related documentation.
Prepare and sustain comprehensive s on accounts receivable status, aging, and collections activities.
Compliance
Adhere steadfastly to industry regulations and company policies concerning billing, privacy, and financial data security.
Safeguard the confidentiality of patient information and financial data.
Communication
Foster collaboration with internal departments, including billing, collections, and customer service, to address and resolve payment-related issues.
Effectively communicate with patients and external parties, providing them with payment-related information and support.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (an Associate’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred).
Prior experience in accounts receivable, ideally within a healthcare or medical billing setting.
Familiarity with medical billing and insurance processes.
Proficiency in using accounting and billing software.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
A basic understanding of relevant regulations (such as HIPAA and medical billing codes) is advantageous.
Compensation
Competitive salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000 annually.
