About The Role
As a Teaching Assistant in our Summer Program, you’ll play a crucial role in implementing our engaging STEAM curriculum. You’ll collaborate with teachers and the Site Coordinator to deliver enriching activities that span Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), alongside health/wellness and social-emotional learning components. This part-time, fixed-term position involves a 4-days-per-week commitment over 6 weeks, with additional time allocated for planning, meetings, and professional development.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively to plan and execute STEAM curriculum and enrichment activities that align with students’ interests and school-day curriculum.
Assist teachers under the guidance of LW Site Directors, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Foster a safe and organized learning environment where students feel supported and inspired.
Develop positive relationships with students, guiding them in healthy lifestyle choices and providing assistance with behavioral challenges as needed.
Uphold consistent expectations for learning and behavior that complement elementary school standards.
Participate actively in team meetings, contribute to program development, and engage in professional development opportunities.
Maintain regular communication via platforms and promptly respond to directives from Directors and Coordinators.
Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator or Directors, maintaining professionalism and adherence to program guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
State of Maine Ed Tech Certification, or equivalent demonstrated experience
Associates, BA, or BS degree in Education or related field preferred
Work Experience & Skills
Previous experience working with elementary-aged youth, with a preference for experience in diverse or low-performing communities
Passion for education and enthusiasm for inspiring children’s learning journeys
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Proficiency in technology tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive Suite, and Zoom
Flexibility, creativity in problem-solving, and a growth mindset for innovative educational approaches
Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
