Georgia Hiring for Junior Software Developer at Duluth, GA Full Time

Georgia 811 is a communication system established to provide one telephone number for excavating contractors and the general public notify utilities of their intent to use mechanized and/or non-mechanized equipment for excavation, tunneling, grading, boring, blasting, demolition or any similar work. This one call system provides the participating utility members an opportunity to locate and identify their underground facilities. Position Summary: The Junior Software Developer works with the Enterprise Services team to develop and maintain applications that streamline processes and improve efficiencies that enhance Georgia 811’s damage prevention mission. The Junior Software Developer will work with other team members to maintain and upgrade existing software, as well as develop new applications. Projects will include integrating web forms into existing APIs, self-service tools for other departments, and apps to automate common tasks. The development projects will progress to encompass additional services for external stakeholders to help them reduce damages as well.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Develop and maintain .Net core Web API applications that interface with databases as well as other APIs.
• Utilize Azure based tools such as Azure Dev Ops for source control and tracking development.
• Write documentation supporting the apps created.
• Work with the GIS Architect to develop geospatial applications using libraries such as OpenLayers.
• Work with the Enterprise Services team to explore new technologies to integrate into company-wide workflows.
• Support requirement analysis, software development, and software integration.
• Follow formal development methodologies adhering to design specification, design techniques, standards, and established development guidelines.
• Develop and maintain software technical documentation to assist in application maintenance and deployment.
• Test software components for adherence to the user requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of user and administrator documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Travel:

• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, generally from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
• Overtime may be required on occasion, including extended hours and weekend work.
• Required travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. This role is primarily a remote position.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience or industry certification.
• Experience with JavaScript, React, HTML DOM, HTML5, CSS3, single page web applications.
• Experience with C#, Web API, Microsoft SQL Database and PostgreSQL
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Fosters teamwork within the department and collaboration with the IT department and other parts of the business.
• Strong organizational aptitude and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated reliability with excellent time-management skills.
• Works well under the pressure of deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of geographic information systems and querying is a bonus.
