About The Team

This role sits within our Finance team which works to contribute to the achievement of Council’s vision and corporate goals through a range of finance and accounting related services including transactional accounting, business support, project accounting and strategic financial planning. The team is committed to providing high quality service to all stakeholders, including our Executive Team, Councillors, all council staff and the community.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has experience in an assistant accountant or financial accountant role. You are someone who has demonstrated ability to function with minimal supervision and effective time management skills with the ability to organise own work and to establish priorities and meet performance requirements. You are also someone who is committed to providing great service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Certificates & Licences

• Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (Accounting, Business or Commerce).

Essential

• Demonstrated ability to deliver financial activities and reporting in compliance with relevant statutory bodies, standards, and legislation.
• Advanced data entry skills, with experience in the use of computerised Receipting and Bank Reconciliation systems
• Ability to work accurately, attention to detail and proven investigative skills in resolving outstanding issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly explain accounting issues.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Commitment to professional development, including keeping up to date with relevant legislation, requirements of the Office of Local Government and policies and procedures.
• Must be fully vaccinated (minimum 2 doses) with an approved COVID-19 vaccine and provide Council with evidence of vaccination, or an accepted certified medical contraindication. Council reserves the right to confirm the validity of contraindications in accordance with NSW Health guidelines, and to direct a Worker to undertake an independent medical examination in relation to the issuance of a medical contraindication certificate.

Desirable

• CA/CPA qualified/part qualified individuals.
• Working knowledge of Technology One Accounting System.

• Salary from $75,395.80 – $87,357.41 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation pro rata for part time
