The Talent for Care Co-Ordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust delivers on its commitment to widening participation and the Apprenticeship and Work Experience agendas . This will be underpinned by the four main areas for action identified in the Talent for Care strategy ‘Get Ready’ – pre employment activities including Careers information and guidance for school age pupils, taster days and work experience. ‘Get in’ – opportunities for people to start their career in a support role ‘Get on’ – support people to be the best they can be in the job they do ‘Go further’ – support people to gain promotion through formal training, including registered professions.

Purpose

To manage the day to day delivery of the Talent for Care agenda and ensuring that the Trust Apprenticeship and Work Experience strategies are aligned to the Trust People and Organisational priorities.

Main duties and Responsibilities

Widening Participation

• To support the People Development team in recruiting Health Ambassadors to train and work in partnership to support events which inspire young people to consider employment opportunities in health.
• Assist in maintaining an up to date record of current Health Ambassadors for reporting both internally and externally to Health Education West Midlands.
• Support in maintaining relationships with partner organisations ie Local School and Further Education Providers, and support creating an annual programme of opportunities to widen participation and provide a ‘taster’ for people into the health sector through employability programmes.
• Provide basic career advice on how to ‘get in’, and ‘get on’ and ‘get further’ into the NHS and describe the variety of career pathways to existing staff and members of the public.
• To assist in facilitating T-Level and Pre Apprenticeship Trainee cohorts, including developing and delivering soft skills training.
• Assist the team to increase the number of internal T-Level and Traineeship placements as a recruitment pipeline tool for Agenda for Change “Traineeship” opportunities and entry level vacancies.
• To support the People Development Team in promoting the value of Traineeships and T-level placements to Trust teams as a tool to promote health and care services as a career option to young people, and providing a pipeline of future applicants with experience and understanding of NHS services.
• To assist in the development of a framework and career pathway for clinical and allied health roles; incorporating the different levels of qualifications and awarding bodies (eg Nurse Associate, Assistant Practitioner, Nurse and allied health degree apprenticeships).
• Develop and take the lead in career taster days both virtual and face to face for members of the public, and professional development workshops for Trust staff to assist with developing staff to improve their functional skills, including Maths, English and Digital.
• To assist the People Development team to deliver on the Trust’s Work Experience Programmes and Apprenticeships strategy.
• To communicate and promote the Apprenticeship Strategy to Trust staff and encourage staff to learn as they work.
• To establish strong working relationships with all stakeholders and assist with the liaison and establishment of links with external education providers to ensure the Trust can offer a broad range of Apprenticeship standards to meet the development needs of staff and meet the Trust objectives as identified as part of the Trust LNA activity.
