What We Need
We are looking for a collaborative and driven Team Lead to lead and manage a self-contained development team in the delivery of application and platform improvements. As part of the wider engineering leadership team, you will play a role in setting, communicating, and executing on the vision for the type of people, processes and technology we will rely on.

The Team Lead will play three important roles: as a people manager (e.g. promoting continuous learning and helping team members achieve their career goals), as a member of the product “trio” (partnering with Product Management and Product Design during the discovery phase to understand customer needs and brainstorm solutions), and as a manager of an engineering team (e.g. creating and following engineering best practices).

Job Duties

• Ensure your team regularly meets KPIs/SLAs/goals and successfully delivers outcomes that are valuable to the business and our customers.
• Collaborate with Product to transform requirements into actionable work items.
• Ensure your team adheres to Geoforce’s architecture standards and industry best practices.
• Help the software engineers on your team increase their skills around our coding, architecture, agile practices and CI/CD techniques.
• Ensure that your team is fully staffed with capable engineers.
• Ensure your team deliberately manages what technical debt they take on and what technical debt they fix.
• When needed, be a hands-on developer, making contributions to improvements that are tied to company-wide initiative.

Knowledge and Skills *
Critical

• API design and development experience, with priority given to GraphQL knowledge.
• Understanding of and ability to explain standard programming techniques (procedural, imperative, functional, declarative).
• Ability to map business concerns onto technological solutions and vice versa.
• Significant experience writing, testing, deploying, and maintaining applications deployed to a cloud-based infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of and experience with Agile/Lean values & principles.

Nice to Have

• Experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks.
• Understanding of different data storage mechanisms, including RDBMS (e.g. Postgres) and key/value stores (e.g. Redis) as well as tradeoffs involved in making choices between them.
• Experience with message-based systems (message bus, message streaming, pub/sub. etc.).
• Knowledge of AWS product offerings and deployment mechanisms. EKS (Kubernetes) is a specific preference.
• Experience with GIS software or IoT development.
• Experience Docker images to Kubernetes

Education and Work Experience

• 7+ years of experience as a hands-on developer
• 2+ years of experience leading the development of specific features
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field is nice to have

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
