We are seeking a qualified individual for the position of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator. Reporting to the Facilities and EHS Lead, the EHS Coordinator is responsible for promoting the GRMT Health and Safety Program to ensure a healthy and safe environment. You will assist with integrating health and safety practices into the company’s values, culture, overall business planning, management, and operational procedures.

What You Will Do In Your Role
Ensure all OHS and EHS legislation requirements are met; conduct internal safety audits.
Provide safety orientations for new staff, and coach staff on the use of safety documentation.
Provide support to our facilities by maintaining a visible presence in the production, testing, and development facilities with the goal of identifying hazards and making recommendations for safety improvements.
Communicate, coach, and assist management and employees on the components of the health and safety program.
Providing leadership to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Review and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) database (MSDS Online) for any gaps identified.
Assist in developing, assessing, and implementing practices and procedures that adhere to corporate and facility H&S policies and initiatives, to maintain safe and reliable operations.
Regularly audit operations for compliance and provide feedback to ensure the alignment with corporate goals as well as regional governmental regulations.
Maintain current knowledge of trends and practices, and remain apprised of industry standards, technologies, developments, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
Participate and assist the Leadership Team in the investigation of incidents to identify hazards, assess risks, and determine root cause and corrective actions.
Conduct and/or coordinate all required safety training (New Hire Orientation, Task Specific Training, Arial Lift, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher, 1st Aid / CPR, etc.).
Ensure safety related information is accurate and up to date (H&S policy, inspection and audit results, First Aid information, etc.).
Develop Safe Work Procedures based on Hazard Assessments, and assist with the implementation of SWPs.
Establish, maintain, and educate all staff to promote a safety-first culture including individual responsibility and accountability.
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety
Minimum of 2 years related experience in health and safety
2+ years of experience in Manufacturing or Production facilities
Strong organizational skills
Strong computer skills
Detail oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels and on all shifts
Ethically minded and driven
What Will Put You Ahead:
Manufacturing experience
Experience with ergonomics, industrial hygiene, WHMIS, First Aid, and Incident Investigation
Professional health and safety certified (e.g. CRST/CRSP/CHSC/CSMP) or actively working towards certification
