Primary Purpose: The Senior Accountant supports the Controller and office of the CFO, accounting department and operations through the preparation and analysis of financial and operational reports. Responsibility for the accuracy of the general ledger resides with this position.
Essential Functions:
Participate and take a leadership role in the monthly financial close process for both Sacramento and Mt. Shasta locations
Assurance of accurate financial reporting (and associated analysis) and G/L maintenance through monthly account and bank statement reconciliations
Validation of accuracy of monthly accruals
Provide documentation support for annual audit
Monitor and provide documentation for periodic covenant compliance
Provide weekly cash management reporting
Reviews financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identifies development opportunities and improvements that can be made
Miscellaneous reporting as requested
Qualifications:
1. Proficient in GAAP and basic tax treatment compliance
2. Demonstrated general ledger expertise and supporting documentation skills
3. Exemplary attention to detail and understanding of complete business transaction cycle
4. Effective written and oral communications couple with excellent interpersonal skills
5. Possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Highly proficient with Excel and other MS suite of applications (Word, .ppt, etc.)
7. Ability to consistency prioritize multiple concurrent projects
8. Requires a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion and decision making with limited supervision
9. Ability to supervise/manage staff
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
2. 4 – 6 years’ experience in a dynamic, heavily transactional business executing in an accounting or finance function
3. Highly proficient in GAAP and basic tax treatment compliance: CPA preferred
Experience with Produce Pro or other ERP system
5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
