Summary
As part of a new Data capabilities Engineering team, the Platform Analytics System Specialist will lead requirements development for in-vehicle, edge, and cloud based app and service software that provide performance insights of GM’s next-generation Connected Vehicle, Automated Driving (L2+) and Autonomous (L4) technologies. You will be a technical expert to define vehicle data, trigger/event definitions, and analytics tools through working with global teams. The utilization of ‘systems level thinking’ will be key in this role. We are looking for a highly energetic and creative thinker who is addicted to an attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of systems development such as requirements definition, analysis and management, to build a system that generates insights aligned to the product manager and architect’s vision
System Technical Specification development along with FMEA
Facilitate implementation of new feature and functions, perform hands-on testing and issue triage, support development of necessary tools, and perform performance analysis as needed
Support supplier development of technologies where necessary •
Build mechanization drawings with assistance from architecture teams
Create and maintain applicable system/subsystem/component software specifications
Lead/participate in software peer reviews to ensure compliance to requirements
Provide technical leadership for sophisticated technology development
Collaborate with other System specialists to define and negotiate key functional and performance requirements
Root cause all applicable system related issues during testing and validation • Ensure work is completed as per milestones with excellence
Responsible for compliance with GM processes and safety procedures
Represent the team globally as a key partner to the product
Support and/or lead activities for customer outreach and education in platform analytics and respective use cases.
Basic Qualification
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree •
Minimum of 5 years of experience with automotive data or similar modules, and/or systems engineering
Proficiency in writing and comprehending software requirements and interfaces
Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc.
Ability to read and interpret software, and compute system hardware specifications
High level of oral and written communication skills and basic project management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites
Comfortable with ambiguity and has a passion to shape the future
Strong technical leadership skills and able to work in a highly collaborative environment
Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment
Additional Job Description
Preferred Experience:
Advanced degree Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
Experience with Software Telemetry data or understanding of computer, network, software performance metrics
Experience in software development (Android, Java, C/C++, or Python) • Experience with telecommunication networks and security
Experience with edge, cloud, and IoT technologies
Experience with Service Oriented Architectures and Microservice principles
Working knowledge of Big data technologies
Experience with vehicle ECU/module integration
Demonstrated Interest in Data Analytics, Tools and Databases (e.g. Machine Learning, HUE, Jupyter, PowerBI, Hadoop/SQL/noSQL)
Experience performing system and component level DFMEAs •
DFSS Black belt certification
Design/Development of safety critical systems/components (ISO26262)
Experience in automotive product release and specification process
