General Motors Hiring for Manufacturing Process Engineer at Warren, MI Full Time

The Prismatic Processing Engineering Group thrives on developing processing technologies to manufacture electric drive units and EV (Electric Vehicle) requirements within Global Propulsion manufacturing process. General Purpose of the position is to support the development of component machining process, work to sustain manufacturing repeatability and productivity improvement, execution through start of production (SORP). Work collaboratively with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Area leads and other cross functional teams to address build issues. This role will actively support the GPS build events at prototype development lab, pre-production facilities and other GMNA manufacturing sites. Position will based in Warren, Michigan.

• Analyze and implement machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
• Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
• Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
• Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
• Manufacturing process development using CAD/CAM math-based tools
• Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants to produce high-quality parts
• Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
• Create budgetary estimates for manufacturing systems
• Support the process of incorporating lessons learned from previous launch experiences into the GM Bill of Process and Bill of Equipment
• Support advance material and machining studies for future programs

Additional Job Description

• (1) Year minimum manufacturing processing engineering experience in prismatic structures
• Knowledge of machining, cutting tooling, operational parameters, manufacturing and measurement processes
• Knowledge and ability to implement Global Manufacturing System principles and requirements
• Understanding of plant floor and product design manufacturability
• Bachelor’sdegree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
