General Motors Hiring for Financial Analyst Co-Op (Summer 2022) at Oshawa, ON Full Time

General Motors Oshawa Operations is looking for a cutting-edge student to join its team as a Financial & Operations Analyst Co-Op. This assignment will provide an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic group of individuals! Finance provides an active supporting role in the day-to-day operations of the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in Management Accounting.

This opportunity will appeal to a “hands-on” team-player who is considering a career as a financial analyst, or an accounting professional. The Co-Op student will gain extensive experience in day-to-day finance and accounting functions. Also, you will be exposed to many financial related information systems that provide the information vital to a complex business to operate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze and explain plant performance to forecasts, and budgets through analysis and data mining of results

Prepare performance charts and presentations for leadership reviews

Provide support to operations departments to assist them with meeting their business plan objectives

Provide guidance in all financial matters with respect to GM, and appropriate business and accounting policies

Assist in development of the following year’s budget through analysis of current performance, expected business changes, and operational objectives

Support the sales team in new business development opportunities by providing costings information, and setting up processes to monitor and track costs in a manufacturing environment

Special assignments and other duties as required

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

Enrolled in an Accounting, Finance, or Engineering degree program and in your 2nd, or 3rd year of study

Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada, and for 4-month term (1 semester) starting May 2022

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Possess strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail

Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to plan and implement tasks in support of the plan

Highly adaptable with the ability to work independently with little supervision while collaborating within a team environment

Proficient in the English language

The successful candidate will be required to attest to, and be prepared to provide proof of, their vaccination status and that any job offer will be conditional on the candidate being fully vaccinated

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive accounting and finance related course work

Strong proficiency and knowledge of MS Excel
