General Motors is committed to protecting human health, the environment, and driving continuous improvement! Join our environmental team to gain experience in support of maintaining compliance, implementing best-practices, work standardization, and training across a multitude of GM non-manufacturing sites including vehicle test tracks, research, design and vehicle testing centres, parts distribution, and training facilities. The position is located primarily at the GM Canadian Technical Centre in Oshawa, with visits to Markham and Woodstock several times a month. Also, periodic travel to other GM sites across Canada.
On top of the work outlined above, the successful candidate will work on sustainability and community development work, and will get exposure to the Oshawa vehicle manufacturing plant!

Key Responsibilities
Support environmental compliance related to operations at each of GM Canada’s non-manufacturing sites including storm water management, air emissions, spill prevention, and waste /recycling programs
Plan and lead sustainability initiatives and employee engagement campaigns (Earth Week, Waste Reduction Week, World Environment Day, etc)

Required Qualifications
Enrolled in an Environmental/Chemical/Civil/Materials Engineering Co-Op degree program, and in your 3rd or 4th year of study
Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada, and for a 16-month term (4 consecutive semesters) starting May 2022
In possession of a valid Full G Ontario driver’s licence (not G1/G2), or equivalent out-of-province licence, and have access to a vehicle
Ability to travel to various GM Canadian facilities
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills
Fundamental digital literacy including proven understanding of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
The successful candidate will be required to attest to, and be prepared to provide proof of, their vaccination status and that any job offer will be conditional on the candidate being fully vaccinated
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual, with proficiency in French language (advanced-fluent)
