General Motors Hiring for 2022 Fall Co-Op – Engineering Student, Body Shop at Ingersoll, ON Full Time

As an Engineering Co-Op/Intern Student, you will be required to work with minimal direction, and will be encouraged to continually improve the operation of your area and equipment. The job will entail a close working relationship with production and maintenance personnel. You should view this position as an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a highly automated, best-in-class automotive plant!

Key Responsibilities:
Generate project specifications and general designs for small projects

Assist senior engineers with equipment installations and start up

Provide technical support to the Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Safety Departments

Make continuous improvements to existing tooling and equipment

Coordinate projects with maintenance, or contracted personnel

Involved in preventative maintenance and planning

Other duties as assigned

Additional Job Description

Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Bachelor’s (3rd or 4th year) or Master’s degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering

Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada and for 12-month term (3 consecutive semesters) starting September 2022

Willing to work in a plant environment and flexible working hours (shift work and overtime to meet business needs)

The successful candidate will be required to attest to, and be prepared to provide proof of, their vaccination status and that any job offer will be conditional on the candidate being fully vaccinated

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior manufacturing experience, knowledge of production environments, and in automotive industry are considered assets

Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience

High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed

Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric

Excellent project management skills and the proven track record to manage numerous projects at any given

Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
