Job Summary

The controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the Company. This position oversees the operations of the accounting department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll. The controller is ultimately responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results and ensures that these reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Duties and responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates all accounting operational functions
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
• Coordinates and prepares periodic internal and external financial statements and reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Develops and monitors benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
• Produces and manages the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management
• Provides financial analysis
• Works with external auditors
• Provides executive management with information vital to the decision-making process
• Assesses current accounting operations, recommends improvements, and implements new processes
• Evaluates accounting and internal control systems
• Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
• Oversees regulatory reporting frequently, including tax planning and compliance
• Files quarterly and annual reports with the associated agencies
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
• Ten years or more of related experience
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
• Excellent management and supervisory skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Working conditions

Office Environment – 100% of the time

• Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• May lift up to 15 pounds at times

Direct reports

This position does have supervisory responsibilities over accounting clerks (AP/AR).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $78,660.00 – $98,325.00 per year

• Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

• Bonus pay
