Job Description
The role of the Software Engineer – DICOM is the designing, building, delivering, and maintaining software applications & services within the Imaging Technology Group – PDx-R&D to support clinical imaging activities.
The role is based in the Imaging Technology Group PDx-R&D and reports to the Global Head of Imaging Technology.
Role Requirements:
- A solid working knowledge and understanding of C/C++ and .NET
- Experience with other modern programming and scripting languages (Python/Java/C#)
- Scripting experience
- Working knowledge with AGILE development, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
- Experience with automated testing tools
- General understanding of IT Infrastructure (Windows server OS, hardware, remote access, and web applications including HTML5)
- Maintains awareness of the latest trends and opportunities in technology
- Actively shares knowledge and ideas with teammates and is receptive to listening to ideas of others
- Continuously drives self and team improvement
- Technical understanding of both medical imaging data management and file formats (i.e. DICOM)
- General understanding of the impacts of technology choice to the software development life cycle.
Areas of responsibility & tasks
- Work with imaging scientists and technologists to identify client and user requirements
- The role will also entail responsibility for software lifecycle including activities such as requirement analysis, documentation/procedures and implementation.
- Writing code and creating packages to satisfy the requirements
- Apply documented design and test principles at all stages of development
- Writing technical documentation to support software development
- Evaluate and take ownership for existing “custom coded” solutions, including bug fixes, maintenance, functionality additions within a highly regulated environment
- Determine if existing “custom coded” solutions would benefit from re-development, e.g. another language/platform/web integration/future-proofing
- Examine team processes and making recommendations, where additional software solutions can assist users in processing tasks
- Build relationships with other development engineers outside of the group to share best practise, methodologies, new technologies and tools
Qualifications/Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Computer Science. Applicants with an HND in Computing: Software Development and relevant software engineering/development experience will be considered
