The Design Engineer, Electrical candidate will be a hands-on member of our small multi-functional electrical group that designs, builds, and tests hardware, software, controls, and test equipment to control high speed mechanisms and precision aiming systems. The electrical group takes products from requirements to qualification in a structured systems engineering based design process. The electrical group also supports ongoing electrical production with troubleshooting, problem solving and solutions. This employee will be guided by senior colleagues in a collaborative team environment and expected to be self-motivated and an active contributor. They will bring a background in electrical engineering principles and practical applications and will learn about and contribute to the systems and controls specific to the General Dynamics product line.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement electrical subsystems for aircraft weapon systems, under the guidance of senior colleagues. Utilize best electrical practices in the framework of military standards including Mil-STD-704 & Mil-STD-461.
• Provide Production Support by troubleshooting or assisting in the improvement of hardware, interconnect, and test equipment.
• Collaborate with electrical colleagues, engineers, and suppliers to define and document electrical task at hand, as well as requirements.
• Participate in the testing development process through test procedure development, test execution, troubleshooting and data analysis.
• Communicate and work with project team, program managers, suppliers, customers, and functional management.
• Define electrical tasks to describe electrical development steps, progress and lead or participate in design reviews.
• Support component level electrical evaluation. Components consist of PCB components, PCB’s, Wire harnesses, Connectors & Motors/Encoders.
• Assist in the determination of replacement parts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0 to 3 years of experience.
• Exhibits exceptional work ethic and is ambitious.
• Possess good Written/Verbal Skills, Excellent Organizational Skills.
• Is proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analysis skills.

Critical Professional related Technical Skills; Computer Skills:

• Broad knowledge of Electrical Equipment.
• Proficient with utilizing an oscilloscope and electrical meters.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting components, electrical assemblies, and test equipment.
• Optional – Circuit Simulation tools, MATLAB, PCB design and layout tools.
• Optional – Experience Servo-loop tuning brushless motors with PID control compensation.
