Gene F Prentiss and Company, PC Hiring for Tax Preparer Full Time

Overview:

Established in 1990, Gene F. Prentiss & Company, PC is a full-service public accounting firm offering a wide array of accounting, tax, and advisory services to individuals and small to mid-size closely-held businesses located throughout Connecticut. We are seeking a full-time Tax Accountant to join our team in Bristol, CT.

Responsibilities:

• Work with staff to prepare partnership, corporate, individual, and fiduciary tax returns and tax-exempt entity returns
• Prepare 1040, 1065, 1120 tax returns

• Prioritize work according to filing deadlines and workflow demands

• Maintain organized and neat work areas so that work can be easily reviewed by others

• Keep colleagues and owners informed of progress and the need to make adjustments to scheduled work.

• Gain an understanding of client business operations, procedures and needs.

• Special projects, as needed.

• Represent the Firm in a positive light by maintaining a professional demeanor, dress, and attitude at all times.

• Follow established procedures, but suggest innovative, progressive ideas where appropriate.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s in Accounting or relative experience in tax preparation

• 0-2 year relevant experience (recent public experience highly preferred)

• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills

• Proficiency in various computer applications including MS Office

• Strong computer skills and the ability to work in a paperless environment

• Familiarity with time-tracking and due dates software

• QuickBooks and ProSeries experience a plus
