Summary:

The Director of Logistics will create and execute the strategies related to the product distribution network of the company. The initial focus will be related to the efficient movement of products between our vendors, locations and customer. Subsequently establish a strategic plan for the continuous transformation and improvement of the logistics function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop the most cost-effective or efficient manner of moving products through our supply chain that includes less than full truckload, container purchases, small package parcel and our internal trucks.
• Develop optimal transportation modes, routing, and frequency.
• Negotiate and review freight carrier rates.
• Establish and drive key logistics performance metrics.
• Develop and maintain logistics policies and guidelines.
• Work with vendors to improve supply chain efficiency.
• Analyze impact of proposed logistics changes.
• Develop and propose improved logistical models.
• Evaluate the cost of transportation and services to ensure that they are within our distribution strategy.
• Work with field personnel to ensure that logistical efficiency is being implemented.
• Manage carrier and freight payment company relationships.
• Drive continuous improvements within this area.
• In partnership with other departments hold responsibility for proposed strategies and plans and, ultimately, their success.
