GEGAC has a full time position available and would like to offer you the opportunity to join the exciting team of Koorie Families First Educators. The primary role of the Koorie Families First Educator practitioner is to strengthen the capacity of parents to guide their children’s early learning and development and raising children strong in their identity and culture, including successful transition to Kindergarten, Playgroup and School.

GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
Position Purpose
Koorie First educators program focuses on building parenting capacity, rather than directly supporting an individual parent/carer. Practitioners provide support to parents that enhances their parenting capacity, rather than case managing them.
Practitioners with the skills and abilities required to deliver this support use a strengths-based
approach that empowers parents as first educators of their children.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
Drivers Licence – Essential
Diploma level or working towards. – Essential
A working knowledge of computers – Desirable
Covid 19 Vaccination -or willing to obtain- ESSENTIAL
