GDC Properties, LLC Hiring for Accounting Associate Job at Hawthorne, NY Full Time

We are a family-owned full-service real estate firm that owns and direct manages a portfolio of over 500 multifamily apartments; we also own some hotels which are under third party management. We are looking to hire an Accounting Associate to be based out of our corporate office in Hawthorne, NY and remote. This position will support and report to the Controller and is responsible for implementing accounting processes and systems, ensuring the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data. Adheres to policy and procedure over general accounting activities and implements best practices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the full cycle of accounts payable, including but not limited to entering and processing vendor bills, reviewing GL codes for accuracy, obtaining proper approvals, processing and distributing payments, perform vendor setup, maintenance, insurance certificates, W-9 management, and review monthly AP aging reports.
• Troubleshoot billing issues, fraudulent checks, voided checks, stopped payments and check reversals, follow through to resolution while working closely with other departments.
• Deposit and post miscellaneous receipts.
• Process debit card transactions including downloading of statements, reconciliation of receipts, and allocation to operating properties.
• Log and process all utility bills timely. Flag unusual usage and alert the Property Manager for action.
• Process expense reimbursements and maintain logs.
• Process quarterly sales tax filings.
• Processes weekly payroll account replenishment and monthly allocation reimbursements.
• Prepares annual tax filing Form 1099 and Form 1096.
• Calculate and update management fees for assigned property portfolio.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned or requested.
• Work Hours: 40 hours per week

Qualifications/Skills:

• Preferred: at least two years of experience within a small, family-owned multi-family real estate or professional property management company. College degree is a plus but not required.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent communication, writing/composition, and interpersonal skills, highly analytical and organized with extreme attention to detail.
• Ability to work in an entrepreneurial fast-paced environment; multi-task while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction as well as with a team, prioritize, think critically and proactively, and meet critical deadlines.
• Experience with property management software – RealPage/One Site preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
