Job Title: Education and Training Lead (Youth Programme)

Location: Northern Ireland. Home-based, with travel expected within region

Reports to: Quality and Performance Team Leader

Job Purpose:

GamCare’s successful harm prevention and support service for young people currently

delivers the Young People’s Gambling Harm Prevention Programme, a national programme

aiming to raise awareness of gambling-related harm and providing support via GamCare’s

Young People’s Support Service.

We strive to ensure young people, their parents, and the professionals working with them are

equipped to make informed choices about gambling and have access to age-appropriate

support, with the overall aim of reducing gambling harms experienced by young people.

As an Education and Training Lead you will engage key stakeholders in your region, deliver

accredited training to professionals, run interactive workshops with young people, and

collaborate with your colleagues to ensure the ongoing improvement and success of the

programme.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Engaging Stakeholders

Working with your regional colleagues you will develop new relationships and maintain existing

relationships with key stakeholders. Your aim is to meet your collective regional targets and

overall programme targets for the number of professionals trained and young people attending

gambling awareness workshops, whilst maximising opportunities across other GamCare

programmes and treatment services.

Your responsibilities include:

• Mapping regional stakeholders to identify opportunities and key organisations of

interest (schools, youth organisations, health and social care etc.)

• Establishing initial contact with stakeholders to promote the programme offer, through

targeted emails, phone calls, and social media

• Identify opportunities to promote the programme message, including team meetings,

open-days, conferences, and other local or regional events

• Negotiating and scheduling training and workshops, ensuring all pre and post session

information is provided and collected in a timely manner

• Maintaining relationships with stakeholders after sessions to ensure opportunities for

future deliveries are maximised, and the Young People’s Support Service Team are

linked in where appropriate

• Accurately maintaining the stakeholder map to ensure delivery leads are maximised,

and data can be utilised to identify best practice and national partnership opportunities

Delivering Training and Workshops

Utilising your skills and experience in public speaking, presenting, and facilitating, you will

deliver interactive and engaging sessions to young people, professionals, and parents/carers

to raise awareness of gambling-related harm experienced by young people. You will ensure

participants leave with enhanced knowledge, increased confidence, and know where to access

support if a young person is experiencing gambling-related harm.

Your responsibilities include:

• Delivering interactive, engaging gambling awareness workshops to young people,

ranging from small groups, to classrooms, and school assemblies

• Providing CPD accredited training to professionals who work with young people, either

face-to-face or online

• Running gambling awareness workshops with parents/carers

• Promoting GamCare’s Young People’s Support Service, other programmes delivered

by GamCare, our delivery partners, and other treatment options available

• Maintaining and providing data and statistical information required to assist the

delivery and evaluation or the programme

• Ensuring sessions are bespoke and tailored to the needs/requirements of the

participants to ensure the programme is as inclusive as possible

• Understanding responsibilities to Child Protection and Safeguarding, promoting children

and young people’s welfare in relation to all advice, support, interventions, and services

we provide

Collaboration and Ongoing Improvement

You will build and maintain an effective working relationship with your colleagues in the youth

programme, our partner networks, and across GamCare to ensure a team culture of

collaboration and ongoing improvement. Our programme values an element of fun in the work

programme, ensuring our stakeholders have a memorable experience, and we deliver the best

possible programme.

Your responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with your regional and national colleagues, sharing best practice,

problem-solving together, and celebrating successes

• Liaising regularly with the Quality and Performance Team Leader to ensure the quality

of your work achieves and remains of a high standard

• Attending team meetings (virtually and in person) as required, contributing

constructive feedback and suggestions for improvements or amendments to all

aspects of the programme

• Developing and growing your knowledge of gambling-related harm, particularly in

relation to young people

• Championing the youth programme, the work GamCare and our partner network

delivers, to enhance our reputation as the experts when speaking about gambling-

related harm

• Contribute your skills and expertise to enhancing the overall effectiveness of the youth

programme, and GamCare as an organisation

Person Specification: Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Essential

Experience working with children and young people in an educational or youth setting

OR

Holds an undergraduate degree or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline

(Youth Work, Teaching, Social Sciences, Health and Social Care or Training)

Experience

• Delivering training products and/or engaging groups of young people

• Promoting/marketing a service or programme and engaging specific audiences to

acquire uptake of provision

• Working with young people, other youth-facing professionals, and/or conducting work

in youth settings

• Championing awareness or educational programmes that require a demonstration of

authority and expertise

Skills

• Excellent public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills

• Able to identify, establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders

• Collaborates effectively with others in a team environment to achieve shared objectives

• Communicates effectively and confident when contributing to individual or team

discussions

• Proven self-starter, confident working independently, able to problem solve effectively

and comfortable working with ambiguity

• Able to learn quickly, and develop the specialist knowledge required to champion a

programme

• Excellent IT skills, including online delivery platforms (Teams, Zoom etc.), maintaining

accurate stakeholder records, and managing programme data collection requirements

• Passionate about reducing harm experienced by young people, and able to take a non-

judgemental approach to gambling, gambling-related harm, and those with gambling

issues

Desirable

• Understanding of addictions through lived experience and/or experience working with

those affected by addictions in general or gambling-related harm

• Experience of working in charity/third sector, education, health or social care settings
