Summary of Responsibilities
The Gallatin County Public Library Director’s primary responsibilities are to anticipate and fulfill the needs of all Gallatin County residents utilizing resources available. The Director is responsible for library operations, programming, collections, services, personnel, technology, strategy, public relations and outreach, marketing, building, grounds, equipment, budget, donor relations, and fundraising. The is an exempt position. Evening and weekend hours are required from time-to-time.

The Director reports to the Board of Directors
Essential Functions
Communication:
· Leads and manages the internal and external communications and public relations of the Library.
· Solicits community feedback through a needs assessment process.
· Conducts staff meetings.
· Ensures the Board is informed of all Library services, programs, and activities.
· Pursues collaborations with the local school district and local businesses.
· Pursues local partnerships to promote a positive image in the community.
· Responsible for communication within the community through the local newspaper, social media, library marque, fliers, and more.
· Responsible for creating and supporting a professional, safe, inclusive, and positive culture.
Board:
· Responsible for notice of all Board meetings, agenda preparation in collaboration with Board Chair, prepare timely and accurate Board meeting minutes, resolutions, and financial/budgetary information in an easily accessible manner.
· Works collaboratively with the Board to identify all library needs, including training needs, and financial needs.
· Builds a relationship of respect and teamwork.
· Responsible for Board orientation and training.
· Responsible for bonding of specific Board members.

Salary: Negotiable, based upon experience and educational level. Range $58,000 and up.
