Fyba Recruitment Ltd Looking for Civils Operative (Telecoms) at Leeds, West Yorkshire Full Time

Our client are a leading contractor within telecoms and are currently looking for multiple civils operatives out of their depot in Leeds on a permanent basis.

Our client is a leading provider of telecoms and digital infrastructure, building and installing high-speed broadband networks to help connect businesses and residents with full-fibre internet. With depots in Warrington, Leeds and Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, we are a leading contractor for telecoms and internet providers such as Virgin Media and Openreach – and carry out a range of projects across Yorkshire, Midlands and the North West.

Reporting to the Civils supervisor you will help support the division’s goals of delivering outstanding projects whilst maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality.

Day to day tasks but not limited to:

• Provide new installation of duct, chambers, cabinets & associated equipment.
• Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard ensuring all information / pictures are captured on company supplied assets.
• Be competent in the use of Stihl Saws / Wacker plates / trench compactor / mini digger / jack hammer and hold the correct certification to complete the works.
• Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily works on a tablet (job sheets / risk assessments plant sheets / van sheets)
• Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities.
• To be responsible for the company assets & plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties.
• To treat internal and external customers with respect and provide support at all times.
• Ensure all works are carried out to required industry standards.
• Experience in a similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry.
• Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients.
• Must have good knowledge of sign/lighting & guarding.
• Maintain company SHEQ standards to ensure continued compliance with legislation and industry standards.

The ideal candidate for this role should have the following skills:

• Experience of Virgin media / BT civils / other utilities background
• Proficient in chamber builds
• 1.5t 360 mini digger experience CPCS or NPORS (not essential but preferred)
• Confined spaces
• Towing ability
• Ability to work well under pressure
• NRSWA accreditation (essential)
• Driving license with less than 6 pts (essential)
