Job Description

We are looking to appoint a Finance Analyst to work within our Construction project review team. Reporting to the Finance Manager – Project reviews and based in our Richmond office, the role will have you leading financial reviews of our current projects across the country. Working with your engineering counterpart, you will participate in discussions with the project teams over project forecast accuracy, critiquing calculations and offering opportunities for improvement.

This role will see you conducting site walks throughs to identify discussions points to be raised with the project team, linked to your observations of field activities and how they will achieve specific financial outcomes. Your conclusions will help regional finance managers address particular deficiencies in process compliance identified in project review reports.

Your main accountabilities will be to:

• Attend Client interface meetings, querying the extent of project commercial & contractual compliance and documenting responses accordingly
• Assist in compiling an independent valuation of project final forecast income (particularly unapproved variation and claim income) and cost by identifying and estimating the risks & opportunities documented during site attendance
• Provide a final assessment of project compliance with mandatory procedures required to manage commercial & financial risks, justifying the assessment with reference to outcomes documented throughout the review
• Lead discussions with the Project Team over commercial & financial areas of project compliance, updating findings documented in preliminary review procedures appropriately
• Assist in compiling a project review report that accurately summarises key project review findings
• Use project review outcomes as an opportunity to enhance business process knowledge and initiate future process improvement
• Complete preliminary procedures over areas of commercial & financial project compliance & risk management in advance of site attendance:
  • Procurement Management
  • Cost & Forecast Management
  • Head Contract Administration
  • Financial Reporting
• Challenge, modify & adapt procedures undertaken to suit the unique circumstances of each project under review

To Be successful in this role, you will need:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications within Accounting & Finance ideally competed or competing for a CA/CPA qualification
• Previous experience in Audit either in-house or from professional practice
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and develop strong working relationships will be highly regarded
• High proficiency in Excel and experience
• Experience and proficiency in JDE or Oracle is desirable, although not essential
• Experience within construction, infrastructure or engineering companies highly regarded
• Ideally, processing existing project-based finance experience to identify key issues on a timely basis, assessing & confirming their relevance
