We are looking for a Finance Associate to undertake this challenging and diverse role. The role will involve provision of accounting support for the Defence and National Security (DNS) Business Unit. With the support of a wider team, the purpose of this role is to provide accounting support to new and recent contracts wins within the Business Unit. The scope of the role covers end-to-end financial management of the DNS Operational and Headquarter (HQ) cost accounting areas including month end close processes, forecasting, and ensuring complete balance sheet integrity maintained.

This role will be responsible for an agreed set of finance processes, within agreed timescales and deliverables, which include Financial Accounting (e.g. General Ledger accounting), Financial Reporting and Analysis (e.g. management reporting, budgeting, variance analysis, cost and profitability analysis); or other process-oriented activities to support Business Unit Operational and HQ areas

Core Skills

• Works reliably, competently and accurately to ensure that key finance processes are operated as expected by management, within defined control framework, and that business information used for decision-making, performance reporting and business partner positions are accurate and reliable
• Responsible for delivery of defined processes and dealing with day-to-day operational queries, with escalation of more complex issues to line management that may otherwise impact successful finance process outcomes or quality
• Support and challenge the business to ensure that quarterly, Mid Term Plan and other forecasting information is gathered correctly and has integrity but is owned and understood by the business
• Competently selects and apply appropriate operating procedures and accounting policies and guidance, to ensure completion of processes on an accurate and timely basis and compliance with internal controls
• Control issues are promptly raised and communicated through appropriate channels to highlight financial or business risks
• Ensure Consistent achievement of key deliverables within defined accounting and reporting deadlines
• Proactively addresses operational problems and inefficiencies, requesting appropriate advice and guidance where necessary
