Our Company

Fuerste Vaccination Services is a full-service vaccination company which provides various services to our clients such as an on-site supply of trained vaccinators, fin clipping and PIT tagging services and assistance in the setting up of the vaccinating system.

Unlike many of the hatcheries, Fuerste Vaccination Services considers candidates with no prior aquaculture experience. The Role

Fish Handlers will be required to attend the hatchery and safely handle the fish during machine vaccination with our NFT machines. Handlers will pick up the fish and place them in the machine slots in the accurate positioning. Vaccine bag changes, needle changes and shot quality checks will also be the responsibility of this role.

This is a fast paced and physically demanding job which includes some heavy lifting, repetitive movement, and long periods of standing in a stationary position.

Locations: Sayward (Big Tree Creek) with opportunities to travel to other sites

Duties & Responsibilities

The Fish Handler’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Fish Vaccination
• Machine Maintenance
• End of Shift Responsibilities

Required Skills

• Ability to work well within a team
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Physical ability to perform repetitive movements for the duration of the shift
• Excellent hand-eye coordination

Required Experience

• Previous fish vaccinating or fin clipping experience is preferred

Education & Training

• First Aid – level 1 is preferred (or willing to obtain)
• WHMIS is preferred (or willing to obtain)
• Valid Driver’s License required (or willing to obtain)

Training

Training and orientation will be provided prior to start of employment. Training topics will include:
