Fuerste Vaccination Services is a full-service vaccination company which provides various services to our clients such as an on-site supply of trained vaccinators, fin clipping and PIT tagging services and assistance in the setting up of the vaccinating system.

The Role

The Brailer’s primary duties are to prepare the baths in which the fish will be anesthetized in prior to being vaccinated. The role is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the TMS on the fish, adjusting their time spent in the bath for best results, maintaining optimal levels of fish in the tank and communicating with the vaccination crew and hatchery staff. This role is imperative for ensuring fish safety and seamless operations from the holding tank to vaccination.

Duties:

• Notes the time that fish are placed into sedative mixture and visually monitors the fish to ensure TMS is taking effect
• Takes fish to the vaccination table as soon as TMS takes effect
• Monitor the length of time fish are under the effect of the TMS
• Adjusts the time in bath as necessary to ensure fish are anesthetized during vaccination
• Uses effective time management to keep production moving at the vaccination table to reduce amount of time Fish Handlers are without fish
• Performs TMS bath changes every 45 minutes in a timely manner (7 – 10 minutes) as well during breaks
• Monitors DO meters in tank

Required Experience

• Previous aquaculture experience is preferred, but not required

Education & Training

• First Aid level 1 is preferred (or willing to obtain)
• WHMIS training is preferred (or willing to obtain)
• Valid Driver’s License is preferred (or willing to obtain)
