In addition to other children, we’re looking for two Education Specialists to work with an Acton-based 12 year old autistic boy who also has ADHD. He becomes emotionally dysregulated easily, self-harms and absconds from sessions. In addition, he displays challenging and often sexualised behaviours towards those working with him. He hasn’t attended school in a long time and Fresh Start in Education will be providing bespoke 2:1 support for 14 hours per week. The sessions will be centred around the Primary National Curriculum.

As one of the education specialists working with him, you’ll play a key part in planning and delivering a creative and bespoke learning programme designed around his social, emotional, physical and academic needs. Working as an Education Specialist

• You’ll usually work 1:1 with young people but sometimes alongside other tutors in 2:1 or 3:1 placements
• Sessions last 3 to 6 hours per day, 2 to 5 days per week
• Placements typically last 6 to 12 weeks & you’ll be working on a Bank Staff contract
• You’ll lead or support with the planning of a bespoke curriculum designed around students’ needs

What experience & skills do I need?

• A proven track record of working with young people who have Special Needs such as ASD
• Experience in delivering the Primary National Curriculum
• The ability to deliver education creatively using engaging and inspiring resources
• Willingness to attend MAPA de-escalation training if working with students who have challenging behaviour
