PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

Fully supports Logistics staff and Couriers. Responsibilities include leading dispatching, route planning, and customer interaction.

u00A0Oversees centralized routing department within the Supply Chain network. Ensures operations meets DOT, OSHA, and compliance guidelines.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Manage the tactical execution of short- and long-term objectives through the coordination of activities with a direct responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.

Provide leadership, coaching and development plans for all direct s to maintain an engaged and productive workforce;

partnering with Human Resources on employee matters.

• Manages Courier Supervisor and other Logistics personnel, including of interviewing and hiring employees for the department
• Evaluates all Logistics department supply orders for sufficient quantities, overstock situations and compliance.
• Initiate safety procedures when issues are identified
• Conduct audits of selected Courier bases in assuring quality of service and supply management.
• Conducts statistical and financial analysis of all Courier bases to increase efficiencies and reduce cost.
• Communicate all changes and new product information to internal departments which include : Laboratories, Customer Service and Sales and Marketing.
• Collect, analyze and safety statistics through the appropriate channels.
• Oversees the in-service training to each new employee.
• Supervises, coaches and counsels direct employees and provides prompt feedback.
• Works with Management within the department to develop employees regarding goals and clear, concise development plans for future advancements.
• Ensures that employee’s objectives are challenging and realistic.
• Review policies and procedures annually and as needed for compliance purposes.
• Analyze route sheets for accuracy, thoroughness and efficiency and recommends changes where needed.
• Backup for Courier service in any emergency
• Technically proficient in the specific department and knowledge of industry practice and business principles. u00A0 Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.

EDUCATION :

Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree desirable

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS :

• 6 – 8 years’ related experience.
• 3+ years’ supervisory or project / program management experience preferred
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Strong leadership skills.
• Strong delegation skills.
• Excellent Computer skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work with other departments and all levels of management.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with no Type A violations in the preceding 5 year period – Must be able to read a map and program a GPS or other required hand held devices.
• Excellent analytical skills
