Frayser Community Schools Hiring for Dean of Students at Memphis, TN Full Time

The Dean of Students assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs for the Anti-Racism Initiative. The Dean administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with Network and state law. The Dean of Students also fulfills supervisory duties such as arrival, dismissal, and hallway transitions. Monitors and organizes attendance functions in relation to truancy. Attends IEP meetings in relation to behavior.

Supporting teachers to hold all students to high and consistent behavioral expectations.

Assisting teachers, students, and parents in the effective creation and implementation of individual behavior plans to maximize instructional time on task.

Helping to reinforce the effective use of a school-wide behavior plan, including managing the school’s demerit and rubric systems to maximize instructional time on task.

Ensuring that the physical environment of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student achievement.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY

Trained in or willing to be trained in and implement culturally relevant pedagogy.

Is able to provide and execute culturally relevant lessons.

Keeping accurate student discipline records, documenting all conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for behavior.

Keeping accurate student attendance records, documenting all conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for attendance/truancy.

Able to model how to integrate Research-Based Pedagogy to increase student achievement.

Is a risk-taker who is willing to try new and innovative approaches to classroom management and engagement in addition to effective practices that have been implemented for years.

Is results-oriented; Is able to analyze, understand and organize data to drive culture and lower discipline infractions.

Embraces challenge and is open to developing various approaches to achieving effective outcomes/high growth for all ability levels.

Participate in the design and implementation of systems to assess culture and discipline.

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Preferred experience in an urban public school or charter school setting.

3 years of teaching experience and administrative license preferred.
