Upper School History Instructor

Franklin Road Academy seeks a full-time social studies teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. The position will focus on world history at the honors level and other social studies courses, such as economics, government, and human geography ? depending on the candidate?s level of expertise. Candidates should have experience teaching world history with the capability of teaching other courses within the department. Candidates should desire to be a part of a collaborative history faculty that resonates with FRA?s mission to develop leaders of integrity in an inclusive Christian community. This department will meet regularly to share best practices and ensure a collegial atmosphere of growth and development. Candidates for this position should have a passion for history and the social sciences and have a desire to grow as instructors and mentors of students. Community life is a huge part of FRA, as teachers regularly attend games, recitals, and other campus events outside the classroom. All teachers at FRA are advisors of groups of 8-10 students that meet 3-4 times per week, and teachers are encouraged to lead clubs, coach teams, and integrate themselves in the school community.

Responsibilities

Develop curriculum to meet the needs of the class through the creation of assessments of various types

Serve as advisor for a group of 8-10 students

Meet regularly with their department to ensure streamlined curricula, expectations, and best-practice pedagogy

Performs general teaching tasks such as tracking attendance, assigning homework, grading assignments, giving feedback, and communicating effectively with students at all skill levels

Maintains regularly scheduled office hours and other faculty responsibilities
