Mechanical Engineer – Product Design

Forms+Surfaces is a leading designer and manufacturer of architectural and site products used in high-profile commercial and public projects around the world. With approximately 400 employees both local and international, our team of talented professionals and craftsmen spans numerous disciplines: design, engineering, manufacturing, sales, sustainability, and client support.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong skills in CAD software. The ideal candidate will have experience working collaboratively through design, engineering, and manufacturing issues in a hands-on product development and manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for engineering, designing, detailing, producing manufacturing package documentation, and communicating the status of assigned projects.
• Work with our in-house Design & Development team to conceptualize, detail, prototype, and eventually deliver fully realized standard products.
• Work with in-house sales personnel and customers to promote and champion the designs of our custom product offerings.
• Work closely with the in-house manufacturing team, transferring product development knowledge and fulfilling manufacturing and assembly needs.

The ideal candidate possesses:

• Four-year degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical preferred)
• 3 years’ experience in CAD software both 2D and 3D (AutoCAD and Solidworks)
• 3 years’ experience in manufacturing
• 5 years’ experience in product design – Architectural products preferred.
• Related experience in launching product lines to market
• Compelling interest in manufacturing processes and continuous improvement
• Familiarity with precision metal fabrication, metal casting, composites, woodworking, and their respective associated tolerances
• Familiarity with indoor and outdoor lighting solutions (preferred)

Pay: $78,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
