About The Position

The Area Sales Manager position located in the US represents a leadership role leading a small sales team of professionals. Expectations include the ability to effectively coach a sales team to sell at all levels of management and build relationships that ensure we will continue to get the first and last look. Being skilled at customer centric selling approaches and effectively selling the value of our products and services are also keys to success and must have the ability to assist customers in problem solving to deliver solutions, bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to their daily routines. Individual will perform the function independently and interact and influence effectively at the managerial peer level. This individual is a thought leader who performs independently and has demonstrated the ability to effectively interact and influence peers and the next level up in organizations (Company and Customer). Up to 75% travel is required.

Roles And Responsibilities

The purpose of the Sales Function is to deliver:

• Profitable revenue growth, including robust new business development.
• Achieve stated gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
• Approach the sales process with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness by successful utilization of Strategic Account Management principals, customer centric selling skills and tools, such as use of scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, high/wide/deep, 5 warning signs, prospecting & new account calls, and development of a robust sales funnel, collecting ARs, avoidance of bad debts, cross selling, and effective CRM system management.
• Delivering year-over-year growth in Operating Income and Sales for territory. Must have a proven track record of growing a business.
• Creating an environment where a highly motivated, engaged team of Sales professionals thrive.
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop direct s is a key aspect of this position.
• Development of highly productive relationships with key customers, suppliers and internal contacts is essential.
• Demonstrating strong business acumen to manage a P&L, working capital, profitability, etc. Must be experienced in developing a budget, operating plan and goals for sellers and technical representatives that align & ensure delivery of the annual operating plan commitments. Development of short- and long-term sales forecasts for product lines and markets and preparation the business plan, strategy, and implementation of a successful business plan annually.
• Performing market share analysis and preparation of recommendations for increasing market share.
• Maintaining first-hand knowledge of technology changes, material development and market place conditions; makes presentations at sales meetings.
• Serving as a member of the Commercial Leadership team in meetings and working on projects across the territory.
• Create and maintain CRM data and sales statistics are required.
• Other duties as assigned

Experience And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience
• 5 + years sales experience in distribution, manufacturing, sales, account management
• Previous formal people management is not required if individual can show experience in coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and inspiring people and teams
• Able to demonstrate thought leadership and serve as a player/coach within a fast paced commercial organization
• Ability to influence and drive results through others w/ out direct line of ing
• Professional presence, including excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills required
• Self-confident and assertive when appropriate
• Experience in the healthcare plastics industry preferred
• Experience training and mentoring others
• Ability to work well independently as well as on a team
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence decision making
• Excellent time management skills and ability to strategically prioritize tasks
• Strong computer skills, proficiency with MS Word & Excel preferred; SAP experience preferred
