Software Systems Engineer

Are you a product focused Systems Engineer with software experience looking for a new position? Keen to work alongside some of the top experts in the field on products that are redefining key aspects of the rail industry?

Ford and Stanley the Rail recruitment specialists are working with an established, highly technical rail focused company working on critical infrastructure to assist them in finding an ambitious and focused Software Systems Engineer to join their team in West Derbyshire.

The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will join a highly specialised engineering team, working alongside industry experts and leaders with a range of experience across engineering disciplines in a positive and collaborative manner.

As the software systems expert in the company, you will be working with key suppliers to ensure the software components being delivered are up to the highest standard and ensuring all products developed are cyber secure ultimately becoming the ‘go-to’ person for all concerns relating to software and cyber.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Take ownership and responsibility for the Software System elements of specific company product developments.

• Manage the software specific parts of the customer gate reviews, ensuring proper preparation for the software engineering scope and achievement of all milestones.

• Review and approve all software concepts and specifications for use in the Project (such as calculations, safety analysis, System type test report etc.)
• Ensure that software Verification & Validation is properly planned, performed and documented.

The Candidate Essentials:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in “STEM” subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the engineering and product development domains ideally in Railway but could be automotive, aerospace or other similar industry.
• Highly experienced with Software Systems and confident in their approach to any issues in this area.

• An interest in developing skills in safety assurance and EN standards.
• Passion to develop new or hone your existing cybersecurity skills.
