Flynn Group of Companies Hiring for BI Developer at Mississauga, ON Full Time

The Business Intelligence Developer will take the lead on designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining our data warehouse infrastructure and creating a future vision for BI at Flynn. We’re looking for someone who can design, build, and maintain the full data and analytics technical stack. This includes data warehouse architecture, BI application infrastructure and data visualizations (dashboards and reports).

A Day in the Life

Take a lead role in defining Flynn’s future vision for data and analytics, including BI Apps, data warehouse designs, visualization tools, integration middleware, etc.

Develop an overall BI strategy and build a long-term roadmap for our current analytics systems to ensure scalability to meet our expanding needs for accessible information.

Maintain relationships with business unit users (i.e.; HR, IT, Finance, Management and Administration Teams) to ensure our current offerings are meeting their needs and where they aren’t building a plan to bring our offerings up to par.

Create and maintaining system architecture maps and system documentation.

Researches, evaluates, and implements new technology to optimize the functionality and performance of our analytics solutions (backend and front end).

Collaborates with cross-functional teams and clients to define, design, and deploy analytics solutions that meet client needs. Work directly with requestors to satisfy business requirements and desired specifications.

Data Support

Troubleshoots and debugs issues with our data-warehouse, reporting tools, or any connected application.

Maintains business and technical design documents, including system requirements for data, data flow diagrams, logical processes, interfaces with other systems and internal and external checks.

Data Quality and Security

Performs technical troubleshooting, code debugging, and problem solving for custom built data warehousing solutions and 3rd party tools to improve system accuracy.

Identifies, communicates, and resolves data quality and data reconciliation issues.

Tests and validates data to ensure data integrity and accuracy of data flows to and from the data warehouse as well as between connected apps.

Maintain a security plan for our data and analytics including delivery of role based access control on all aspects of the system to ensure confidential and sensitive information is protected.

What We Are Seeking

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science

Strong understanding of data warehouse architecture and best practices including the usage of data cubes

Strong understanding of data integration tools and ETL processes

Experience with the Microsoft data stack (T-SQL, SSMS, SSIS, VB, VBA, VB.net, Access)

Experience with Crystal Reports, QlikView / QlikSense, Nprinting, Python, (PowerBI and Tableau experience is valuable as well)

Ability to provide direction to stakeholders to ensure that solutions are effective and in keeping with the overall IT strategy

Strong customer service focus with demonstrated skills in supporting users to assist in addressing issues and concerns

Advanced skills in Excel required, including VBA, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, and SQL connected data sources

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are required

Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Ability to learn and use a variety of software applications such as JIRA, Confluence, Zendesk

Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-project environment with shifting priorities, and the ability to reassess and reprioritize competing business needs
