As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Production Supervisor (afternoon shift) ensures all assembly tasks, commissioning and final test & troubleshooting are completed in safe and timely manner, facilitate daily operation of manufacturing activities for CyTOF® instruments, which is a novel analytical instrument for simultaneous detection of multiple proteins in single biological cells, and other related instruments.

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise and maintain continuous and smooth flow of material, assembly, and final testing in an afternoon shift (3pm to 11pm)
• Troubleshoot electric and mechanical modules, integration, operation and testing of Mass Cytometry instruments if required
• Ensure adherence to standardized and documented manufacturing processes and make sure processes follow approved drawing and work instructions by utilizing eQMS
• Liaise between Production manager, day and afternoon technicians and final test specialists to meet production target
• Immediately notify Production Manager and/or QA of any issues regarding product and material quality
• Assist manufacturing engineer and QA with troubleshooting production, equipment, and quality problems to reduce lost production time and material waste.
• Maintain a positive team moral with an open atmosphere of teamwork and foster positive relations among team members
• Coach & mentor team members for personal and professional growth as well as performance management
• Coordinate refurbishing of returned goods as needed
• Track of shortage of all parts, take leadership role in resolving daily issues
• Enforce Fluidigm Health and Safety policies and report violations or unsafe acts (participate in completing Accident Investigation Report) as well as identify equipment, facility or other hazards.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects with Fluidigm Operations Excellence (FOX) to drive efficiency.
• Assist with on-boarding new employees

Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical diploma or engineering degree in electrical or mechanical

• 2-3 years of experience in managing manufacturing teams and 4-5 years of hands-on assembly of complex electrical, mechanical and optical assemblies – including cables, electrical power distribution modules, and vacuum systems, delicate ion-optical modules, precision piezo ceramic/stepper motors and Laser.
• Good troubleshooting skill is an asset
• Strong Leadership skills with positive attitude
• Balance priorities while exercising timely and good judgment in day-to-day production decisions with the Production Manager (day shift)
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and other applications
• Ability to teach junior staff and to transfer experience through informal presentations and on-the-job training
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
• Solid experience with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485
• Proficient in Document Management System and Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel
• Occasional heavy lifting of up to 50lb
• Must be able to work in afternoon shift (from 3pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday).
• On-site training will take place during day shift
